COMMUNITY-BUILDING COURSES

 

BASIC ECCLESIAL FACILITATORS PLANNING WORKSHOP (BEFPW)

The BEFPW planning process discerns God’s direction in relation to the over-all vision of the Basic Ecclesial Community Formation Team and the team’s successes and high potential. Plans are then designed and sustained by choosing and committing on actions that move the community forward and towards the vision.

 

BUILDING CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES

This course helps one to understand what small Christian communities and why they are important. It addresses the question: how do we establish small Christian communities? How do we sustain them? How do we choose leaders for these communities? The course includes awareness programs to introduce small Christian communities and methodologies to build and sustain them.

 

DEVELOPING PARISH MINISTRIES

Each Christian is called to share in the task of the Church. The question is HOW? How do we tap the vast potential of the laity & draw them into active participation in the life and mission of the Church through the parish? This course addresses the said need by introducing awareness programs that open the eyes of the laity into possible areas of the involvement on the life of the parish.

 

SPIRITUAL FORMATION FOR COMMUNITY LEADERS

Using a participant’s manual and a trainor’s manual adapted by Fr. Herbert Schneider, S.J. from the Lumko Missiological Institute, this course drill the participants in Scriptural principles that serve as a foundation in approaching their ministry as leaders, whether in the parish, prayer group, or community. Topics include: you will be my witnesses, Serve your brethren as I have served you, Our work can increase community spirit or decrease it, How to be a real team.

 

RESOLVING CONFLICTS IN CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY

Conflict is a reality in everyday life, even among Christians in a prayer group or community. People disagree for varying reasons. This course deals with the common sources of conflicts that occur in personal relationships and offers practical approaches in handling them.

 

THE WAY OF THE PARISH TODAY

This is a weekend workshop designed for the members of the parish pastoral council, leaders of mandated organization and association in the parish. This module aims to help the participants come to an overall assessment of where their parish is and establish a sound basis to move it forward to what PCP II calls: A Communion of Communities.

 

 

EVANGELIZATION

 

CATHOLIC EVANGELIZATION PROGRAM

This is a program designed to enable Catholics to share the Gospel effectively on a person-to-person basis. Participants will learn the Catholic understanding of evangelization and how to share it. The participants will be given a chance to go on a house to house visitation as a practicum in evangelizing others.

 

 

BIBLE & PREACHING

 

PRAYING WITH SCRIPTURES

Using a participant’s manual adapted from the Lumko Missiological Institute, this course provides the participants with a primer on spiritual reading (Lectio Divina) and in some other forms of meditative prayer. With its accompanying trainer’s manual, this course enables the participant to replicate it to others.

 

GOSPEL SHARING WORKSHOP

This workshop is a very important component in sustaining a community. It trains the participants in the Seven-Step & Amos Programs methods of Gospel sharing. The course includes the spirit and theology behind these methods. Then they are trained to teach these methods to others.

 

JOY OF DISCOVERY IN BIBLE STUDY (JOD)

This is a skill-oriented course that will enable participants to discover the meaning of a text in Scripture and apply it in their lives. It follow a programmed approach to help participants through a step-by-step learning process.

 

JOD TEACHER’S TRAINING COURSE

This course teaches participants the important principles and methods necessary to teach the JOD method to others. Participants will discover for themselves, not only the techniques, but attitudes on how to teach the Bible using the JOD way. Most of those who have taken this course have already started the teach JOD method to others in their areas. Prerequisite: JOD Course

 

INTRODUCTION TO THE PREACHING MINISTRY

Preaching is a ministry in the Church that needs training both in form and content. This course designed as a workshop, will answer some of the following questions: Who can preach? How to develop themes from the Bible? How to preach to different kinds of audiences?

 

PREACHING & TEACHING FROM THE SACRED SCRIPTURES

This course equips participants with effective ways of speaking God’s Word to prayer groups, congregations, communities. The course will enable participants to discover the meaning and message of a Scripture text, and use this to preach effectively to different groups of people. This course is very helpful for those who are often asked to preach and/or teach.

 

 

LEADERSHIP COURSES

 

STEWARD LEADERSHIP TRAINING

As an inside-out approach to leadership, this course aims to develop in the person, habit & attitudes necessary for his total growth. Participants will have the chance to formulate their personal mission statement, practice win-win negotiations, effective teamwork, put order in their personal life, & other values that are helpful in their ministry.

 

GROWING IN CHRISTIAN SPIRITUALITY

This is an introductory course to Christian spirituality with emphasis on lay spirituality. It gives adult Christians a fresh perspective on their prayer life and give them practical approaches on how to sustain their relationship with the Lord. The course enables them to pray meaningfully during the different stages of their journey in life.

 

TRAINERS DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP

The course includes the principle of adult learning, analyzing training needs, formulating training objectives, making training outlines, choosing training aids & training methods, facilitation skills, and ways of dealing with problem situations encountered during training.

 

DISCIPLINES OF A DISCIPLE

“God is a God of order”, St. Paul exhorts. Aside from nurturing our spiritual life, we also need to put order in our personal life, specifically in the use of our time and money. This seminar offers practical suggestions on how we can reorder our priorities so we can serve God more effectively.
